The Apple iPad has a big screen for a portable device, but there are plenty of times when you might want an even bigger
display. The official Apple iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter lets you do that, piping the iPad’s 1024×768 screen into
anything with a VGA port, Whether it’s a TV, projector,
acer Aspire 5100 battery or computer monitor.
We tested all of the above apps on an HDTV and a 17-inch computer monitor and they worked fine. Keynote presentations and
photo slideshows looked great on bigger screens. But when we output HD movies and music videos to the HDTV,and the
Apple iBook G4 12 inch Battery, the video did not fill the whole screen. Instead, it came through with large black borders around
all four sides. YouTube and Vimeo videos filled more of the screen than the screen HD movies did, but none of our test videos
actually filled up the HDTV’s.
The iPad’s speakers are too weak to fill a large room, so then you’ll probably want to pick up a separate cable at Radio
Shack to connect the iPad’s headphone jack to your HDTV’s audio input. We used a mini-to-mini cable, Apple A1175 Battery and
it worked fine.
We therefore decided to test out a few more apps. But Netflix, ABC Player, Theodore Gray element, and every other third-party
app we tried did not work. We’re not sure if this is because Apple does not allow third-party apps to use the VGA cable or if
app developers have to build that functionality into the app Either way, it’s a disappointment that an Acer Aspire 3680 Battery as cool and handy as Netflix can not be pushed onto a larger screen.
The iPad VGA adapter is useful, but it could be a lot better. If you give a lot of presentations or want to watch iTunes
content on your TV, it could come in handy. But it could really come into its own if Apple let it work with third-party video
apps.
Unfortunately, the adapter doesn’t work with all of the iPad’s apps. Apple says the VGA adapter works with the following
apps: Keynote (when playing a slideshow),
ACER Aspire 5600 battery,Videos, YouTube, Photos (when playing a slideshow of
photos), and Safari.
