I’ve known only two middle aged individuals who didn’t get vaccinated. Both of them died because of COVID-19, one was a relative of mine, and the other was my friend’s father.

My mother is a heart patient, yet she got vaccinated properly. She even caught COVID, but nothing serious happened to her. Later, she had to undergo bypass surgery, which might have been influenced by increased blood clotting due to the vaccine side effects. Even so, she still appreciated the vaccine and strongly believed in science. She felt that vaccination saved her life despite her getting COVID.

It’s not easy to develop a vaccine that quickly without some side effects.

mRNA vaccines have been in development since 2013. and have been trialed thoroughly.

Pfizer vaccines, for which most conspiracy theorists are fond of taking pot shots) under went Phase III clinical trial with a cohort of 40,000 healthy participants, and no serious adverse effects were found. It was even tested on pregnant women!. The vaccines were released to the market only after the conclusion of the Phase III trials.

What some people get confused is the approval procedure in the drug authorities in each country - normally this takes years, but due to the pandemic this approval process was accelerated to months, but not the clinical trials.

Also it was easier to produce a vaccine for Covid, since its big bothers MERS and SARS were already under development when covid struck. So it was a matter of piggybacking to get it developed quickly
