Four people died and flights were canceled due to heavy snowfall in Seoul
South Korea's capital has been hit by its worst snowfall in a century, with dangerous conditions wreaking havoc on transportationSouth Korea battled heavy snow for a second day on Thursday, canceling dozens of flights, suspending ferry operations and showing signs of easing conditions, although at least four people were reported killed in the bitter winter.
Thursday's snowfall was the third heaviest in the capital Seoul since records began in 1907, Yonhap news agency said, citing city data. The day before broke all November snowfall records.
As of 8 am on Thursday, some parts of Seoul received 2 cm of rain. More than 40 (16 inches) of snow accumulated, forcing the cancellation of more than 140 flights, although weather officials lifted severe snow warnings for the metropolitan area by 10 a.m.
