This art goes back to more than 30000 years back. The beginning of the art is beyond history records and the most ancient record of a person who practiced this art is called "Kataragama Mahasen" before 33000 years. This is not something came from Indian Tamil Mercenaries. This was practiced in Sri Lanka even before King Ravana. Ravana is not a ancestor of Indians.
