The entrance isn't as dramatic as the glass cube on Fifth Ave. in Manhattan, or as ornate as the storefront on Regent Street in London, but the new Apple store in Rome still beckons with bright lights and an array of high-tech goodies. The store, in the Roma Est mall, officially opens at 9 a.m. local time on Saturday. These photos are from a reception prior to the opening.

This is Apple's first store in continental Europe. The company already has a number of outlets in England.

The 500-square-meter store carries the full allotment of Apple products in a wide-open floor plan.

These photos were provided by Macitynet, an Italian Web site covering Apple and other aspects of high tech. The full gallery is here: Apple Store in Rome.

Rome being a center of the fashion world, no self-respecting shopper would want to pass up the exclusive bags on display.
