New motor gasoline RON 87 was distributed to 25 three wheeler drivers for a test run by Railways, Transport, Petroleum, and Petroleum Resource Development Minister, A.H.M Fowzie at the Ministry premises yesterday.
Addressing the media gathering Minister pointed out that the three wheeler drivers should reduce the charges. "It is the responsibility of the drivers to reduce the charges. If they do not forward relief to the public meters will be installed," he said. "This will provide three wheeler drivers with low cost fuel and also generate employment opportunities.
Small scale entrepreneurs will be provided with pumps and tanks for self employment," the Minister said underlining the advantages of the new fuel. Minister Fowzie also said that CPC will encounter a loss due to this new fuel and it will be passed on to the Government. "We have ways and means to overcome this loss. The Ministry will cut down the expenses and will increase the profits immediately," he said.
The new gasoline will be given at Rs 10 or 15 less than the price of petrol. The Minister further stated that the main objective is to cut down the cost of living of the general public.
