GPS in Sri Lanka.......

    Hi guys, I was just wondering weather GPS is available in Sri Lanka & if so do we need to get the consent from ministry of defense in order to use it???? please help:yes:

    Bro do u think srilanka need a PS sys???A small country like srilanka does not ever need GPS n wer ever u go u fing 3whl parks to get your directions ??Isnt it a GPS??

    No man.. Dere aint any digital maps for SL... U can still get the Sat Signal bt it's all useless without maps installed... :( Someday It'll happen... gotta wait till thn..

    The company is redoing the strategies to make the products more innovative,” Fonseka added.

    The high-tech vehicle tracking and fleet management System is introduced by Geoinformatics International. At present most modern vehicle tracking systems use GPS to identify locations of vehicles accurately.:yes:

    Managing Director, Geoinfomatics International, Sudarman Siripala said the system will assist commercial transport agencies. Fuel efficiency, road dis cipline, enhance productivity, minimising cost and reducing accidents are some of the benefits of this system.

    In the event of a theft, the police and the rescue team can be alerted, he said.

    “Our Internet protocol is a private virtual network from Sri Lanka Telecom. This service maintains high professional ethics and discipline.

    The guidelines from the Ministry of Defence are strictly adhered to. The import of the devices is done according to the specifications given by the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka,” Siripala added.

    Country Manager, Coca Cola Beverages, Sri Lanka, Basil Gadzios signed the agreement with Managing Director, Geoinfomatics International Sudarman Siripala. Regional Supplies Manager of Coca Cola, Robwester, Country Supplies Manager, Kapila Welmeedeniya and Operations Manager, Mihiran Fonseka were also present.

    Yes macho.. d signals r there.. its vehicle tracking dere talkin abt.. wit the signal u can get the current Latitude and Longitude of dat vehicle.. Den through d network u can get the exact position of that vehicle.. it's a BIG process..

    I thought ur askin abt portable o in car GPS navigation.. it's not available yet in SL as dere aint any digital maps of SL yet.. (As far as i knw) If they've set up the maps by now it shd b possible.. but it's most unlikely to happen in SL dat fast...

    it is available machan, there were few stores in the motor show exhibition recently held at the BMICH selling GPS units and i think i took a leaflet from them. Ill try to find it and will let you know the contact information
