Sri Lanka's champion racing driver Dilantha Malagamuwa created more history when he became the first man to clinch the Malaysian Supercar championships twice on Sunday.

Japan-based Malagamuwa who last year became the first non-Malaysian to win the coveted title, retained his trophy at the Sepang Formula One track when he captured the final two races of the season in dominating fashion.

Malagamuwa began both races in pole position as he was the fastest in qualifying the previous day and led from start to finish to underline his dominance.

Malaysian Wira Dani Daim, who was the runner up to Malagamuwa once again finished second, after Daim had to abandon the second race of Sunday due to a technical problem.

In the first race, Wira finished second behind Malagamuwa and still had a chance to challenge the Sri Lankan for the title as the gap at the top was just 18 points.

If Malagamuwa just managed to finish the final race he was assured of the title, the champion was determined to prove something more. "I had the title in the bag if I just managed to finish, irrespective of the position. But I don't want to finish like that. I always want to provide something for the fans and was determined to win the final race", said Malagamuwa.

Malagamuwa did not relax even after Wira pulled out midway in the second race, and won the final race comfortably to clinch the title in style.
