Those days SCJP was very difficult but SCWCD was not that hard. I did SCBCD too. Prepered for SCMAD too but never took the exam. I did all these exams by self-study. I never went to classes or courses to take these certifications. There are many free resources in the internet you can use to prepare for these exams. Main thing for SCJP is you should really learn the rules and syntax of Java like a compiler/interpreter. And you should do lot of mock exams.
