NMAT Donates equipments for Home Guards
NMAT. Colombo. 22nd November, 2006 . NMAT members distributed packs of commodities comprised of a Search Light, Batteries, a Raincoat, and a flask to Home Guards yesterday in Weerawila, Katupotha, Kiwulakada, Idiwewe and Naranwila villages. The donation ceremony was held at Thanthirimale Rajamaha Viharaya, Anuradhapura with the participation of Ven. Thanthirimale Chandarathana Nayaka thero, Major Kohona -Commander of Home Guards, Thanthirimale, Capt: Balasooriya - Administrator, Home Guards, Thanthirimale, CI. Dhammika Hapugoda - O.I.C Thanthirimale, Mr. Palitha wickramarathne, Chairman-NMAT, Dr. Mahima Gunasekara, National Organizer -NMAT, Mr.Roshan Chaminda, Secretary of NMAT and Dr.M.B.Ranathunga -NMAT(UK).

This event was made possible with the invaluable contribution by NMAT associates in UAE.
After observing pansil NMAT President explained the current situation and Dr.Ranathunga from UK explained how they counter the LTTE propaganda in UK. The first pack of equipments donated to the Home Guards by Ven. Chandarathana Thero.
Home Guards were very pleased and encouraged by this event and promised to fight against the LTTE terrorists till the end and to protect their villages from LTTE.
Thanthirimale area consists of 18 villages. 900 Home-Guards are serving to protect the area from the threats of LTTE. But only 200 Home Guards were favored by this event.
