you consider agnostic is the same as being buddhist? gimme a break man.
true buddhism gives a bit more freedom of thought to the followers.. but believing in something some one person said over two thousand years ago is still not much different than believing any other religion.

It is not as same but closer. Because of Buddhism now I think there's a chance for gods (not literally) to exist. Anyhow I don't think I believe what Buddha said 100% but I feel it's more rational than many other things.

internet can't give you answers to questions I'd mentioned in my last post man..even to take answers Buddhas teachings has offered as to why things happen the way they do or where we come from or go to, you'd need a certain amount of faith in the religion.

to take the word of a religious figure that lived more than 2500 years ago and base how things are today on that, I'd say is quite a leap of faith.

do correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought atheism stands for freedom of thought, not be bound by karma or a distant enlightenment.

I didn't say internet can give answers to everything. Rather what I said was internet is spreading knowledge to people in all reaches of the earth. Therefore reducing ignorance among humans of the natural world.

Yeah, that's why I said Buddhas teaching cannot be taken as scientific findings. It need to be calibrated with the modern world. However what Buddha said was far more reasonable for the age gap. It just need sound reasoning to understand.

Freedom of thought doesn't mean you only have to listen to what modern scientists say.

true...Buddha's teachings make a lot of sense if you think about it..for a pious mind, whatever their religions have taught can seem quite reasonable :P

I don't think being atheist is anything to be proud of, we are all the same at the end of the day.

Whlie I totally respect Bill Maher, this only has comedic value to the subject.

Dude he knows what he's doing... seriously I could not understand your definition on atheism , as per my knowledge (please correct me if I'm wrong )
atheism means lack of belief in god or other deities and supernatural things ,Atheism itself has no tenets , beliefs in afterlife , no holy book(s) either
so how come atheism could be considered as a religion according to your knowledge ? :)

I really don't have a definition for Atheism, that's why I came to the "Atheist corner" to find out. Here's my simple theory:

    A religion is:

"A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence."

Now let's see if Atheism is a complete disjoint set:

    1. collection of beliefs - There exists no deity.
    2. cultural systems - People embrace and promote the idea (Eg: this thread)
