    Guys,

    Thought of starting a thread for an interesting discussion because I see this popping up everywhere and might be good to put everything in one place.

    My Answer to this is NO (atleast not drastically). The reasons I see is given below with a comparison. Feel free to put your arguments below for the sake of the rest.

    Simple example I can give to you that shit will not improve is, Let's take a vitz

    Back in 2018 (brand news 2018 shit)
    Japan auction price 1.5milY (1Y=1.5LKR) --> 2.2mil LKR
    SL Duty --> 2.2mil LKR
    Total --> 4.5mil LKR (roughly. This is personally imported price.)

    Now in 2021 the above will be
    Japan auction price 1.5milY (1Y=2.75LKR) -->4.2mil LKR
    SL Duty --> 2.2mil LKR (Let's say it doesn't change)
    total --> 6.5mil LKR

    current market price 7mil to 8mil

    Now the second calculation has a very little chance to change because it is directly tagged to the exchange values. Also with the new directions of IMF they will not lower the duty but as a matter of fact might increase it even further if they allow to import vehicles.

    So my personal view is vehicle prices will remain the same for a quite a long time and it has a better chance of going up than coming down.

    වාහන ගෙන්නන එක කරන්න දෙයි සමහරවිට ඩොලර් හම්බ කරන අයට. ඒ ගෙනාවත් උන් ලෝකල් මාකට් එකේ ඒවා අස්ප ගණන්වලට විකුණන එක නවත්තන්න බැහැ.

    මම හිතන්නේ වාහන මිල දෙගුණ වෙයි කියල ඊළඟ අවුරුදු 3 ඇතුලත
    100% true will happen during mass migration.

    - Foreigners who live here will sell there vehicle when country’s situation gets worse. They don’t care about price they will sell and go asap.

    - People who migrate will sell. They want money for education so they will surely sell.

    - Ceased vehicles will increase

    - Secondary vehicles will be sold

    Even if those come out the bottom line of the vehicle price has increased due to the exchange rate and people will sell it above that. So anyway prices will never come down drastically.

    The best example is since when prices were increased due to import ban, we hoped for a price reduction for about 2yrs but it keep increasing. Few months ago I sold a Maruti 800 for 19.25laks and today I could have sold it easily for about 21 If I had it. Those reasons we speculates above are not a problem for a certain class of people and they keep buying.
    My 2 cents.

    I have been asked to relocate (which I have not considered since I like it here that is minus the queues) so I will not need the money to migrate. This is for me to satisfy my desire of driving a different type of car ban.
    Desire is suffering bn..relocate weyn mea mase athulatha..ehen ekak gnin bn..ubalata athata hamabela katata daganna pina ne..

    Problem is that certain class is getting narrower day by day

    විකුණන්න දැම්මට බං ගන්න ඒකෙකුත් ඉන්න ඒපැයි. ඉල්ලුම අඩු උනාම සැපයුම වැඩි උනාම නිකංම බහිනවා මාකට් ඒක. දැං ඔය වැගන් ආර් ඒහෙම බලපං පනස් ගනං වලට බැහැල තියෙන්නෙ අගේට. මට මතකයි ලක්ෂ අනූවකටත්, හැත්තැ ගනං වලට දාල තිබ්බ කාලෙකට කලින්

    Wondering what's the impact on USD rate fluctuation for local car market because there are no new imports. Besides when market flooded with (I'm sure it will going to happen) vehicles, the demand definitely goes down.

    You like it here lol? You might be the only person who does, we’re in an severe economic crisis, only to be known to worsen an imf bailout is pending and not sure, we don’t have any funding for food or fuel or gas or medications, vehicles are only not even secondary.
