Presidents seeks Rs. 33 billion to cover expenses for military
The government has sought Rs. 33 billion to cover various expenses of the three forces including that which arose due to the increased cadre and strengthening of the military during the war.
President Mahinda Rajapakse, in his capacity of the Defence Minister, today presented a proposal for a supplementary estimate seeking Rs. 33 billion to cover the expenses of the three forces, which include the payment of salaries and compensations to those who lost their lives during the war.

Sir, why do you need such a huge amount. Need of the hour is not big defence force......... Now the war is over. We do not require huge force to safe guard the nation. No major threat as LTTE is totally wiped off. Why don't you allocate more for development and look at possible ways to cut cost and improve the life style of people.

Mr. President the war is over, We had paid like for an Insurance policy over the years, this is to up keep the Armed Forces and when there is a war these forces have to fight, so why 33 Billion that is 33000 Million then during the war how much did we spend. We cannot pay anymore in the future by way of tax
