That's not helicopter parenting.  Each generation is a product of their time. In some respects they are smarter than us, in some ways not. They are now exposed to things that weren't in existence in our days.The sad lack of reading habits have made them much less aware of the things that we knew at their age. But is it necessary to have that knowledge now? They now face different challenges than what we faced at their age.
