Not many come from parents who converse in English at home.  The English standard currently taught in schools has fallen down drastically. Proper English teachers are also dwindling in numbers.A few years of tertiary education is really not sufficient to gain proper English language skills unless you got some background earlier.Those who attend International Schools stand out when it comes to English usage. Another major factor is that the current generation does not read like the way we did. I can see what's happening at my place. They are into mobiles and computers. It's mainly reading that gives you the ability and the style to write. There are plenty of e-books now. Do some reading everyday.Watching utterly stupid Hindi movies or the equally stupid weekly teledramas is not going to help other than to breed a generation of idiots.The only way to lift the standard of English is from the schools. It's not too late.You may be able to survive and be successful without English, but it's definitely advantageous in the current environment we live in.</blockquote>
