I do not know that it was demolished. It was a tv/cine production village too. Why it was abandoned ? It was a success and had produced some talented artists both in music and dancing it functioned even in early 90s and suddenly never heard it. I thought name would have changed but it is sad to see such projects were abandoned .Later another by the name Ranminithanna in hambantota started another tele/cine village. Hope that was not the reason for the downfall of this beautiful and valuable place.may be more than one . Which ministry it came under ? Youth Affairs - from 1994 who held ministry. Jeevan , (1994), Dallus Alahapperuma (2010) , Namal ....?If the reason was to sell the two lightning protectors one need not demolish the building as there were many ways to deal that. The most valuable part of that is not the copper but a substance and copper under  the ground which can be removed without any body's knowledge! certainly a bad decision politicians as well as govt officials should be responsible</blockquote>
