But Japan do have refugee visa as they have ratified Refugee Convention(SL is yet to ratify this old convention) but the percentage of successful applicants for refugee status is less than 0.5%. Last year I met one of their professors in this field and criticized this and stated this as good as not having such a system. He agreed but this is how Japan does it !There is no fear to walk in Tokyo even in the night. It is one of the countries where crimes are rare. No terrorist threats(there was one in 1990s where some local home grown extreme buddhist cult tried to end the world using Serine gas, in subway without success) . One can hardly see immigrants .They used to give work visa for refugees till the application is processed  but this was abandoned recently. The application process time takes about 9 months and refugees worked for that time, not any longer.This was due to Bangladesh, Sri Lankan and other applicants who abused the process.Though I visited Japan in 2017 for official event since I did not applied from Sri Lanka I obtained the visa within 2 days and no question was asked at the arrival. There were three sri lankans with me and none were questioned and all of us were out from Narita airport within 10 minutes from arrival.(we arrived very early in the morning around 6.30 am)The moral of the story is due to brokers we have gained a bad reputation if you hold Sri Lankan passport . So do not believe these brokers</blockquote>
