Many civil society groups had appealed to him to safeguard democracy and stop instability from gripping the country.</p><p></p><p>"I could not turn my back to these appeals," he said.</p><p></p><p>Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said President was expected to recall parliament by November 07.</p><p></p><p>Meanwhile UPFAs Nimal Siripala de Silva, told reporters that Mahinda Rajapaksa also had a majority. Some have already come and others may come in the coming days, he said.
