A long time ago, say 15 years ago when we visited this place a new block had been completed. There were only a few shops and most of the newly completed area was open area - no shops. As usual my wife went in search with a shopping list for her friends, I stayed around, our son was about 6 yrs old then. He had nothing to do and there were several other young kids around. The children of the shopkeepers. After about 15 minutes, he rolled a large piece of paper into a ball and in no time there were about 15 little kids playing soccer. I just watched, somehow they communicated, our guy in Sinahalese and English, other kids in Thai. When my wife returned, there was a big game in progress. One of the shop guys after seeing this provided them with a proper ball. The shopkeeper ladies said their kids were always there and this happened today only because someone else came in and collected them together. Just see how kids interact, language is no barrier for fun. It was lunch time and we were about to leave, a lot of mothers said just leave him for some more time and they will feed him. We agreed to stay for a few minutes more and when we finally left the kids had very sad little faces. When he said goodbye the mothers there had collected a bagful of shorts and T-shirts for him. Even though we refused they said it's for the boy and not for us to decide. One of the mothers placed a little Buddha on a chain around his neck. It was difficult to take him out of there. PS: Best parts of Thailand is away from Bangkok. We have been there for probably 25 odd times. Have visited remote areas which are beautiful and the people are nice. It's a country one should visit.
