Message: <blockquote data-quote="warwickuni" data-source="post: 29138497" data-attributes="member: 101444"><p>IYSH was declared by UN very early when late president R.P addressed the UN Gen Assembly in Sinhala for the first time and made the request for a year for the homeless .  It was adopted by special resolution in 1981 , though the year allocated was 1987.  This was given much publicity at that time and huge neon sign was on the top of Star Building Apartment at Sea side Colombo 3 which was one of the tallest at that time ! This logo for IYSH was also designed by 1981! and the idea for Golden Canopy was not in the picture in 1981 when IYSH  was officially declared by UN! It was never requested in 87 but in late 70s when as PM late RP addressed the GA of UN.</p></blockquote><p></p>
