What happens is that it doesn't open in the classic flyable configuration.The important factors are the proper maintenance & care of the parachute, correct packing and the correct body position in the deployment.If anything can go wrong it will.. and sometimes accidents do happen. There are instances of people falling from great heights without parachutes and survived.BTW does anyone know what really happened in this instance?</blockquote>
