Development of extensive railways in USA and UK was paramount in developing those countries. In fact some of the current major USA cities were originated due to railways. Development of transport infrastructure always pays off. And furthermore JVP do not mention said projects to highlight their importance rather to undervalue the importance of expressways. If you compare those projects with vanity projects such as Lotus tower or Maththala , yes . But development of expressways are equally important.( JVP was a part of the government for a short time when MR was PM. Did they push for those projects then? Those projects are important but not at the expense of expressway projects.
