For the post of a Sub Inspector, the applicantshould be a citizen of Sri Lanka and posses the following qualifications.01. Age Limit Applicants should be between 18 and 28 years of age on the closing date ofapplication. NOTE :- Officers who are serving in the Police Department are eligible toapply up to 30 Years on the closing date of Applications,who posses thenecessary qualifications and satisfy all the other requirements may alsoapply.02.EducationalQualificationsThe General Certificate of Educational (Ordinary Level) Examination in sixsubjects at one sitting with Credit passes in four subjects in which twoshould be Medium Language and Mathematics and three subjects at onesitting at the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level)Examination. NOTE :- In calculating the numbers of subjects at G.C.E.(O/L) both thepasses in Science subjects number 41 and 44 will be treated as one subjectnumbers 42 and 45 will be treated as one subject. They cannot be consideredas four separate subjects taking in to account the number of subjects passed.03. Physical Height - 05 feet, 06 inches (minimum) Chest 32 inches (normal deflated). NOTE :- The Inspector General of Police will reserve the right to enlistapplicants who are slightly below the basic physical requirements, providedthey are outstanding sportsman who have represented the Country in anyfrom of sport in or out of Sri Lanka, or have performed creditably will in anall Sri Lanka meet or competition and satisfy the other requirements.04.VisualRequirementVision should not be less than 6/12 with each eye. If Vision is 6/6 with oneeye, vision of 6/18 with the other eye will be accepted. Colour vision shouldbe normal. Any candidate who requires the use of glasses/spectacles orcontact lenses will be disqualified.05. OtherRequirements1. Applicant should be unmarried (Divorced persons are not eligible). Thisdoes not apply to Police Officers who are serving in the Sri Lanka PoliceDepartment. 2. Preference will be given to those with sports and/or special aptitudesprovided they are within the required age limit and posses the required basiceducational and physical requirements stipulated above. 3. Applicants must qualify in an endurance test prior to their appearancebefore the final selection board. Thereafter they should appear for a writtenexam, which will be held by the Police Exam Division. 4. Selected candidates will be required to pass a medical examination priorto enlistment.
