You may remember Godfrey the pet dog from Homogama, cruelly left to die by his heartless owners after he met with an accident on the road resulting in spinal injuries/paralysed hind legs. The dog was pitifully dragging himself along the road sustaining dreadful sores. We were alerted to Godfrey via Facebook and contacted our friends at Adopt a Dog Sri Lanka. They kindly arranged to collect the dog and took him to a vets in Colombo. With rising vet bills and concerns about the lack of improvement in Godfrey's general condition, the founder member of the charity collected him, took him home with her and has been nursing him back to health since. Godfrey had huge pressure wounds when he was collected from the vets, the wounds were so deep, the bone was exposed. These life threatening wounds are almost healed now due to good care and the wonders of manuka honey, so Godfrey's rehabilitation to get him walking again has commenced. Godfrey is making the most remarkable progress, he has gained weight, is the happiest and most lovable boy, and is also starting to stand on his own now. We are giving him physio and hydrotherapy and hopefully he will be walking soon. Will keep you posted. — Godfrey's journey of recovery (21 photos)
