We have planned to have the second airport in Higurakkgoda. The reason is weather. Since Sri Lanka is very small it is hard to find a place that is having significant weather difference where a plane can be landed. It has to be borne in mind that when there is bad weather in one airport the flights are diverted to closest airport and we normally use Indian airpoarts due to close proximity. So considering all these factors the best place for an airport is Higurakgoda and not in the south of Sri Lanka , because the president comes from that area.</blockquote>
