His contribution to the SF in the past couple of  years was exemplary and goes into the annals of SF and Army history. He  was responsible for killing a number of LTTE top leaders in daring  operations, including founder of the Sea Tigers and its air wing Col.  Shanker (alias Sornalingam) in September 2001, its intelligence leader  Charles killed in January 2008, and Sea Tiger Deputy Leader Kangai  Amaran in June 2001. Lieutenant Colonel Lalith Jayasinghe was killed in  action on November 26 2008, while taking part in a daring deep  penetration operation behind enemy lines some 28 kilometres north of  Oddusudan. </blockquote>
