The very first batch of students when they sat for A/L did not know and they and their parents who opposed it filed a Fundamental Right application in Supreme Court. They should have easily won the case, but unfortunately it came up before Dr. Sherani Bandaranayake, and initial stay order was refused by her. This is how she behaved and became a cats paw at that time. Over to Mr. Weliamuna and Upul Jayasuriya , if you knew law and its deterioration why did you all were silent at that time . This is how hour Supreme Court sanctioned all government actions including 18th amendment that removed the restrictions on two terms for the executive president.  The list goes on ........... all these were possible as all parties including JHU who were a constituent of Govt and Dr. Bandaranayake and all other such appointees to high places sanctioned the govt actions at that time. It was not due to fear , but everybody wanted to be in good books with govt. When there is no rule of law , anarchy rules.</blockquote>
