But this story is not about the longest distance someone can call with a mobile phone, it's the other way around, SHORTEST DISTANCE CALL. Sometime in 1990, a carpet layer recarpeted my (rented) flat in Melbourne, and told me he is going to call the owner of that flat, and let him know that, the job was done. He was sitting on the couch next to my telephone, and pull his mobile out and dialled the number. At the same time my phone(landline) starts to ring. So he moved to the other end of the couch and allow me to answer my phone. The conversation went like this.  I said hello,  The caller said : Hi, I am  xx from carpet world.  Oh, your carpet layer just finished the job. WHAT?? then he moved the phone away  and ask me  ARE YOU TALKING WITH ME??? I told him, yes it's you call me.  Then I check the number, yes, it's my number. He had 2 numbers saved under this job, but mistakenly rang me while we both sitting on the same couch.</blockquote>
