In his second sitting in 2004, Sub-Lt. Rajapaksa has gained Distinctions for English and Sinhala.</span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px">Reading Sub-lieutenant Advanced Level qualifications to Parliament, Minister Karunathilake stated that he obtained two credit passes for political Science and Geography in the year 2006.</span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px">However, the Minister explained that six passes (including English, Sinhala/Tamil, Science and Mathematics) in a single sitting of the Ordinary Level Examination and two more passes in Advanced Level examination is necessary in order to join the Sri Lanka Navy.</span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px">The minister believes that the son of the former President of Sri Lanka enlisted in order to encourage the youth to join the Navy, as interests levels in enlisting for the Navy were low.</span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px">It was also revealed in Parliament on Tuesday that the former government bore a cost of over twenty two (22) million rupees (Rs.22m) in order to fund the overseas training for Sub-lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa.</span></p></blockquote><p></p>
