As I recall, I never needed my birth certificate to open bank accounts, use other public services, or find part-time work during my time abroad. All I needed was my passport and a letter from the university until I received my temporary resident card. No idea about when applying for PR and Citizenship.The only downside I had was that they used my Family name as my 1st name almost all the time in most documents. (අඟුරුයකාගේ කුප්පසේන)</blockquote>
