Before Sri Lankan boat people arrive here, and these Indians inundated Australia with their 10$ an hour IT work, Australia was a very very good country for Sri Lankan migrants. Around early nineties, we were proud to introduce ourselves as Sri Lankans, but I always present myself as a guy from CEYLON, which make a huge difference. Most Australians, or Poms not have any knowledge about Sri Lanka. But when I mention CEYLON, they know COLOMBO, KANDY , TRINCO, GALLE and everything. Specially people who are 50-60 year old at that time (1990). So, until recent times with Sri Lankan boat people and 10 dollar Indian workers , we (sri lankans) were proud respected members of Australian society</blockquote>
