Extracting data for our Global Auto Database we are able to report on this ranking as several others.</p><p></p><p>The Japanese <strong>Toyota</strong> is still the best selling Brand and has been for the past 10 years, selling 3.6 million vehicles up to May 2024, a 1.4% year-on-year loss.</p><p></p><p><strong>Volkswagen,</strong> in 2nd position, holds 5.8% of the global market, having sold 1.9 million vehicles (+4.9%).</p><p></p><p>In third place <strong>Honda</strong> with 1.6 million units sold and a 5.3% year-on-year growth.</p><p></p><p>In fourth place <strong>Ford</strong> sold 1.5 million vehicles (+1.1%) was followed by <strong>Hyundai</strong> with 1.5 million sales (-2.9%), <strong>Nissan</strong> at 1.3 million (+4.7%), <strong>Chevrolet</strong> with 1.3 million (+4.8%), <strong>Kia</strong> with 1.2 million units sold (-2.9%).</p><p></p><p>In 9th place ranks <strong>BYD</strong> with 1.1 million sales (+24.3%). BYD is an EV specialist still selling ICE vehicles (representing over the half of company sales).
