It is a good practice to acknowledge the author even after 100 years of his death. But generally (normally) people don't do it after 50 - 60 after the death. This is mainly because you can't find many papers written before 1900! (more than 100 years old..) Even you find very few, you don't refer them nowadays. Because they are not valid to the present context. But when the time moves on, these rules will change eventually.
