Usually in a country when the youth population peaks, it also undergoes peak economic performance - eg earlier US,UK now India and China. Unfortunately our politicians dragged this country to 30 years of civil war and two rebel uprisings - all of which purposely created to suite their agendas. Therefore, Sri Lanka "lost" the advantage of having a high youth population in the 70s and the 80s, which could have made it an economic power house in Asia, by killing its young population in war and civil unrest. Instead, our politicians and their sons and daughters decame stinking mega rich while we the middle class became dirt poor. This is what our politicians did to us - the 70 year curse</blockquote>
