Message: <blockquote data-quote="rajitha_ks" data-source="post: 19111092" data-attributes="member: 162025">only thing i can think of is the cost.it's not going to be of much use in our oceanic airspace anyway, cuz we can't put ground stations in the ocean.We use ADS-C instead, which is relayed to ratmalana ACC via a satellite link,the current requirement is that they should send a position update via ADS-C every haf an hour.. but since there's an inherent delay of more than 6 minutes between making the request on CPDLC and getting the position report, it's of no use for air traffic separation.I think they use it in Melbourne FIR for separation because for some reason their HF reception is better than ours, so they can get real time position updates over radio</blockquote>
