In 1932 and 1933, millions of people, mostly peasants, in Ukraine starved to death in a devastating <a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_famine_of_1932%E2%80%9333" target="_blank">famine</a>, known as <a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor" target="_blank">Holodomor</a>.
