The migrants were unable to continue their journey as the boat’s engine had broken down. The migrants were on their way to seek sanctuary in Australia. “We took them to Malang Immigration Office soon after they had recovered,” Sendang Biru’s Water Police head First. Slamet Prayit said on Tuesday as quoted by Antara news agency. He said the police had been tipped off by local fishermen who had spotted a boat floating aimlessly. The migrants comprised of 19 adults and two toddlers. Robinson, the migrants’ representative who speaks fluent Indonesian, acknowledged that the group had come from Sri Lanka and was heading to Australia when the boat’s engine stopped working. “We’ve been out of food for two months and have been living off fishes and drinking rain water before the engine broke two days ago,” he said. JKP</blockquote>
