The National Movement Against Terrorism has expressed serious concern over the failure of the police to interrogate the members of a Christian Evangelist Group although one of its member was arrested after he was found to be a LTTE cadre. Investigations revealed that the man had come from the North to engage in terrorist operations in Colombo and suburbs. NMAT held a demonstration opposite the Fellowship office The terrorist Nagulan is one of 12 Tigers who had undergone training as pastors of the Margaya Fellowship of Sri Lanka, the head office of which is located at Jubilee Post junction, Nugegoda. MFOSL has a total of 40 pastors engaged in Christian evangelist work. But police has so far not taken any proper action to probe their doings despite one of them being arrested. This week NMAT held a demonstration opposite the Fellowship office calling for stern action against all those engaging in terrorist operations on the pretext of engaging in religious work – no matter what their supposed religion is. Their actions could lead to unwanted religious tensions in the country, NMAT has warned. NMAT has also condemned Mannar Bishop Rayappu Joseph's failure to withdraw the statement he made baselessly accusing the Security Forces over the shelling incident at Mannar Church.
