In March Bharti Airtel Lanka, a subsidiary Bharti Airtel, signed a USD 100-million investment agreement with the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka to begin its operations in the country.The agreement was the second phase of the company`s commitment to invest USD 200 million in Sri Lanka over the next 5 years. Bharti Airtel Lanka had a good support from all government authorities including the regulator, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) in Sri Lanka.The company acquired a license last year to provide 2G and 3G services in Sri Lanka and entered into a collaboration with Hong Kong based Huawei Technologies for the purpose. Shares of the company closed down Rs 4.85, or 0.57%, at Rs 851.35. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 465,938.
