Message: <blockquote data-quote="srgdr" data-source="post: 12958668" data-attributes="member: 375528">The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) questions as to how the Minister of Education could say that he has no responsibility with regard to the correction of exam results. They raised this question in reply to a statement made by Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardana. ’’The Supreme court has accepted that we, the examinations department, University professors and teachers and intellectuals had carried out the evaluation of answer sheets correctly and the process related to the issuing of results was correct.’’  ’’I must say that it is a good verdict. If a verdict was given to conduct the entire examination again, the future of thousands of children would have been in jeopardy. The issue is a minor one. The court believes that separate two scores should be used for the old and new syllabuses. So the University Grants Commission respecting that verdict will look in to the matter,’’ stated Minister of Education Bandula Gunawaradena ’’At a media briefing, the minister of education said that he has no problem with the court verdict. we know that in an examination results sheet, first you fill find the grade that a student obtained, then the district ranking, and island ranking on the Z-score.’’ ’’This result sheet is issued by the department of examinations. When the Z-score is re-calculated it will have an impact on the district and the island rankings. It is the department of examinations which will issue this re-corrected result sheets.’’  ’’This department comes under the purview of the Minister of Education. How can the Education Minister say that he has no responsibility in this regard?
