Just over a year after Apple birthed the first iPhone, the long-awaited, next-generation iPhone 3G has arrived bearing a mildly tweaked design and a load of new features. With access to a faster 3G wireless network, Microsoft exchange server e-mail, support for third-party software from the iPhone Apps store, and improved GPS capabilities, the new handset is the iPhone we've been waiting for, even if it still lacks some basic features. do I get the white one, or the black one? Yes, it's a purely aesthetic choice, but c'mon, Apple fans are known to care about looks, so this is a relevant question. As you know, the white iPhone is only available in the 16GB model, so many people have posited that this is seen as the "luxury" color, similar to the way black MacBooks were seen as the "it" item back when it was released (Black MacBooks are only available if you want to cough up $200 more for a bigger hard drive). But judging from the reactions of many people in line, a lot of people seem to be opting for the black iPhone, 16GB or not. Is the white iPhone doomed? Of course, you can get other old-school outfits like the Jam Jacket ($19.99) or the HipCase ($29.99). Personally, I prefer the Action Jacket ($29.99) for iPhone, which works well for when you go jogging, which is probably the only time I would want to use a case for a smartphone/music player.
