because they didn't have so much feeling on this land. that is because they came to this country from india in colonial period. still they are favouring india. whenever there is a cricket match between india and sri lanka you may see it. we sinhalas want to consider them as tamil srilankans but they (not all of them) favour india and tamil nadu! this is the problem in sri lanka. first of all they must start to think of them as sri lankans. however tamils were educated and uphold by britains due to those reasons. they gave 1:1 representaion to sinhalas and tamils in middle (say, parliament) when the population of sinhalas and tamils were 4:1. when britains were giving independence to this country, the tamil leaders did not like to give up these privilagous. that was the begining of this problem in srilanka. they even protested against giving electoral powers to whole population. and they protested in order to get these privilagous back. al these things were before 1956. when they realised this is not going to work they began to create incorrect histories, claiming that the tamils, and not sinhalas are the original people in sinhala. but they do not have any evidence to prove that but they had enough selfishness to propogate this myth. when they propogated this myth to young tamils, the young tamils became aggressive. they started to faught against sinhalas way back in 1970s (before 1983) to rescue their socaled homeland. prabhakaran is one of them. that is why i hate chelvanayakam than prabhakaran. however those young tamils were advised by these old leaders not to take military actions because those leaders knew they cannot win through militariy actions but they can win through conspires. they tried to get a federal state first and then march towards eelam. young people didnt listen to them and even killed some of them considering them as constraints.  in 1983, l.t.t.e kiled 13 soldiers and sinhala thugs made use of it to destroy tamils and their properties in colombo. what is important is, until now there has not been such an incident eventhough the l.t.te. has killed thousands of civvilians (in terrible ways. once they attacked a sinhala village and kiled a pregnant sinhala mother and took off the baby out.... there are so much incidents that i will have to spend a day to list them.) and attaked dalada maligawa the most sacred place in world for sinhala buddhists. in addition to that, sinhalas are condeming those incidents in 1983. someone who can visit colombo, can see how the tamils muslims and sinhalas are living together in harmony. i born in a tamil area in colombo. i know how the tamils and sinhalas live in colombo. we dont need observations from someone who lives in tamilnadu. yes. it may be your wish that sinhals attck tamils in colombo so that you all can protest against sinhalas. but we will never give you a chance. it is the sinhalas who have lost their human rights. tamils can visit anywhere in srilanka. but sinhalas cannot visit those northen areas)  what do you mean? it was only sri lankan army who fought against l.t.t.e. your indian army coudnt do it in 1988 s. we are buying arms from other countries. but they do not fight for us. we are not producing weapons due to our poor political leaderships. but our soldiers are talented. i too do not insult other contries but coz of you i had to use some words. your indian army, with highly sophisticated equipments, spend days to rescue mumbai hotels. but we have had faced dozens of such attacks and our army spend ony two three hours to finish. it is not an easy exercise at all to defeat l.t.t.e with miminmum harm to civillians, (unlike bush). they did it remarkebaly with less sophisticated eqipments. that is why i identify them as the most talented (not the most effective ) army in world.    how much you have been misinformed ha! it is the sinhala students who are been discriminated when the government select students to universities. a jaffna student can be an engineer with an z score about 1.0 wheras a colombo student need 2.0! but these inocent student do not preotest aginst this discriminattion. but we would have seen thousands of protests if this was against tamils.  there are no second nationalists. but the tamils are not identifying them as sri lankans. what can we do? (tamils in colombo has somewhat come out from this. i admire them.)   people in india and britain know the history of this land than we do!. in some periods srilanka was divided and ruled due to some reasons (invasions, due to the selfishness of kings.) but most of the times it was a one country. and there is no archiological evident about tamils in sri lanka. as some one has said in this thread, l.t.t.e has destroyed some temples in north and build kovils. but they are such idiots that they dont know how to do it. still there are ruins of these ancient temples. ... thanks for the advices. we are not developed. it is true. but i do not care. we repect tamils. but we do not repect racist tamils (or sinhalas). let the l.t.t.e and chelvanayakam go to hell of the hell for what they have done to our motherland. </blockquote>
