[QUOTE="COOLguy, post: 9524411, member: 2696"] Hi friends, I couldn't find a suitable group to create this post so going with the instincts I chose "Elakiri Talk" and site admins are free to move it to what ever group that suits them. OK, So first of all I want to tell you all that I bought a Amazon Kindle for $139 about 5 days ago. The reason for starting this thread is, when I got the idea of buying a latest generation Kindle, I couldn't find a single thread in Elakiri or in any other sri lankan site where I can get basic information like how many days will it take to arrive, how much should I pay for custom as import duty and is it really worth it to buy a Kindle, etc... . (But I tell you now, if you are addicted to reading books, this is the perfect item for you. ) So, with those unanswered questions in mind and taking my chances, I went up with buying the Kindle 3 Wi-Fi only version for $139 via Amazon Site on a Thursday night. They shipped the item on the same day via DHL and full tracking information was available until it reached my house on Monday morning. It took only 3 days to arrive at my home. Know what, the estimated delivery date on Amazon was Wednesday but I got it two days early. Here's the total cost I had to bear when I bought Kindle 3. Kindle 3 Wi-Fi Only - $139 Shipping Charges - $20.98 Custom Duty - Rs 823(Port and Airport Development Levy) + Rs 379(Nation Building Tax) So altogether it cost me only around $169 for the whole thing. DHL paid custom duty for me and I had to pay that(Rs 823 + Rs 379) when they delivered the item. I was afraid that I would have to pay around Rs5000 as custom duty but that was a false alarm. For safety measures, I checked the option "Mark this as a gift" when I ordered the item on Amazon. To end this, I am really happy that I bought Kindle 3 because it is perfect for me. Very light weight and it is like reading a book with the new E-Ink technology. You can read all the technical details about Kindle on Amazon site. Hope this helps for anyone(living in Sri Lanka) hoping to buy a Kindle. I am posting some photos of my Kindle.
