Even the 3GHz P4's has a TDP of 100W!!! 100 for a single core!!! (not sure how much it actually consumed; should be around 80-90W). That's exactly why PentiumD's TDP is/was out of this world. However, now the higher end AthlonX2s are also hitting 89W-125W region, especially the 3GHz ones. There are Energy Efficient models as well, but they are usually 2.2GHz max.</blockquote>
