But I must give you a word of caution before you enter the industry! To become a pilot, or in other words to get an airline pilot job, you need immense amounts of luck bagged in your side. Its not only luck, you also need some considerable amounts of money to build your basic flying hours. The competition is so high even to get a Cadet pilot position (or an ab-intio intake) since there is a kind of like surplus of fresh piloting graduates! Of course as somebody had mentioned here before they would at least expect a CPL for an ab-intio intake. However I would suggest having an frozen ATPL ( Airline Transport Pilot's License) as an added advantage to stick out of the lot!I must also say that do not expect miracles to happen as soon as you finish the course such as getting a job the very next day! It may take a couple of years sometimes for you to get even an interview! You might also need to keep current your flying hours in this time period which will add into your expenses list. If you are considering a place like UL (SriLankan Airlines), get to know how tough the interview process can be! (Simply google for reviews on interviews!)Just to give you an idea I had a mate of mine who worked as a delivery driver for supermarkets in London. He possessed a CPL and was doing that job to recover the loans and he was waiting like that since two years! I still dunno whether if he was at least been called for an interview?But this by any means doesn't mean that it's impossible!
