All depends on who you know and what you are capable of.Do not think about saving during the first 3 months of doing jobs as you may find how hard it is to save after spending money for rent, water bill, gas bill, electricity bill, petrol, mobile phone, food, clothing, internet & outdoor casual expenses.All incomes and savings will be based on what you get to do as your job in Australia. If you are a skilled person with some talents, you may have a path, if you are an ordinary person with an average life, you will have to start from scratchWhatever your wife completes as in her study , she will have to do IELTS or PTE to get at least 7 each in general module which is really tough and also she may have to do a professional year to get her assessment from ACS which counts for another 10 month period after the completion of the M.Sc while she is on her Graduate visa after M.Sc.You can give 5 points to her, if you get each 6 in General IELTS  and also an assessment from ACS claiming validity for your degree done in SL.If you both can manage to get 70 in total (65 is the current cut-off score but no one is getting invitations for that score as the competition is really really high), there is a chance for residency but do not know what rules will change during that 2 year period and what will happenSo the path for PR in that way is,if your wife is the primary applicant, she can get 30 points for her age if you guys are between 25-32 of age15 points for her M.Sc.plus ACS assessment (It's a must to do Professional Year to get this assessment)5 points for the 2 year study period in Australia10 points for each 7 in General IELTS or 65 each in PTE Academic5 points for doing professional year5 points for your degree assessment from ACS + each 6 in IELTSThat tough and hectic path will give you 70 to be eligible to apply but even that 70 could be not enough since there are thousands of applicants with 75, 80 and 85 waiting to be invited.You can do NAATI and get another 5 points to make it upto 75.But remember one thing.
