By K.R. Nayar, Staff Reporter Bridgetown, Barbados: "Sanath Jayasuriya is the most dangerous batsman in world cricket today," said Australian skipper Ricky Ponting. The entire Australian team were watching the New Zealand-Sri Lanka match on television. Though the side were having their nets, they made it a point to take a peek at the television every now and then. They also kept inquiring about the score. Ponting feels Jayasuriya is the type of batsman who is very good for one-day cricket. "The Sri Lankans were heavily dependent on him. But now they also have some good batsmen like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene to take the load off him," Ponting said. 'Most balanced attack' He was also full of praise for the Sri Lankan bowling as well. "They have the most balanced bowling attack among all the teams here. Lasith Malinga is fantastic. He reverse swings a lot and is a dangerous bowler." Conditions here seem to suit sling-action bowlers. I was also impressed with the maturity shown by some of their young players, especially Dilhara Fernando." It was Fernando, who clean bowled Ravinder Bopara to give Sri Lanka an exciting victory over England. During net practice at the Kensington Oval, the Australian team management asked for a local spinner. Their coach John Buchanan got a few players to throw the ball with a sling-on action to make sure they were well prepared to play Malinga. All their batsmen were also asked to bat before a bowling machine that delivered the ball at different speeds. Australia play Sri Lanka on Monday.
