I think sometime between 2001-2004 the UNP repealed that provision. personally i think that criminal defamation should be there!! People don't have a freedom of speech to slander others.. That has to be understood by the Media men!! They think that they can write anything under the sun, in the guise of investigative journalism and media freedom. They say that the pen is mightier than the sword!! but the pen should be used properly., our media men wants the mightier pen, but don't want to learn how to use it!! If you read most of what's published, its outright Slander., if the media wants to protect themselves, become more professional.You can't do crap and hide behind investigative journalism!!</blockquote>
