Message: <blockquote data-quote="rapa" data-source="post: 67613" data-attributes="member: 212">The above news item appearing in the September 2006 issue of the Buddhist Times is utterly revolting and disgusting and is typical of the hate that local proselytizers have against Buddhists.  It says that Ampegama in Ambalangoda where all the residents are Buddhist has been named Baptist Village because Christians from foreign countries have donated funds to build the houses for the victims of the tsunami. It has also been stated that this village should have a Christian church. These statements are highly provocative and inflammatory and insulting to the Buddhists of this country and are also an insult to the Christians in the West who poured out money through their hearts out of loving kindness (metta) and compassion (karuna). At one time the rate of collection was a million pounds sterling per hour. None of then, not one gave this money with the idea of conversion in mind. Almost all that money was squandered by INGOs, NGOs, and their fellow travellers. It is with the little that was left over that the houses referred to were built.Nowhere in the Christian West where I have spent more than half my life is there any hate against Buddhism. This hate is found only in Sri Lanka among those whose ancestors have been converted for money and other financial reasons and now find that their heritage which is 100% Buddhist is in conflict with their hate. So they want to convert this country to Christianity through unethical means.
