They showed pictures of inconceivable violence against their people. I understand their grief and I feel their pain. They were condemning the perpetrators of those atrocities but they were cheering for the terrorist leaders of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The inhuman killings of the last few weeks were the result of a mentality of violence and terror that many of the leaders they were cheering had accepted and promoted. LTTE had waged a terror campaign to create an independent Tamil state in northeastern Sri Lanka since 1976. They killed innocent people using suicide bombers, the first group to do so. I didn't hear any condemnation of the actions of those terrorists.Aside from the need to defend human rights and oppose genocide, the protesters also were asking our government to intervene in a conflict that had nothing to do with Canada. I believe it's time we took a hard look at our future as a country, a country that accepts people from around the world who are willing to share their experiences but also make an effort to be part of it and not use it as a base to settle scores elsewhere.<a href="http://www.thestar.com/comment/article/639066" target="_blank">READ MORE</a></blockquote>
